50 Gallon Lookdown Tub-build thread-lots of pics

pescadero- It is a RubberMaid, brand tub. Menards calls it a 50 gallon stock tank. The SKU# is: 189-1360. They had them on them on display indoors by the lumbar section before you go outside to the garden section. That is at the Crystal Lake Menards. Others may be different. I did see them there 2-3 weeks ago. Also, I had to order mine were you get building supplies. Got the ticket and went around back to pick it up. reefhead165- Maybe. I don't run skimmers but she does want quite a few fish so I might pick up a used PM or something.

Thanks. When I went to my local Menards a few weeks ago I specifically asked them to search for a Rubbermaid stock tank, but they still couldn't find it in the computer system. Maybe they only stock them in the more rural store locations. Now that I have an SKU to give them, maybe I'll have better luck. ;)
 
I would have had to do some tile work around the top though. :D

I do really like it though. I might have to just accidentally start building one in the garage. When the wife asks what it is, I will just avoid the question like the plague. When it is all said and done, how could she say no?

This is black ABS pipe from Menards. If I were to redo it, I would order black "PVC" from www.savko.com . ABS seems to be not as dense of a pipe as PVC. It seems to be a little noisier than a similar setup with PVC.

Looking back, going over the top of the tub would be better. Tile would add a nice look. I thought about it, but there was no other tile in the lookdown room. There was a whole bunch of wood stained with Ipswich Pine though!

It looks great I really like the handles too, they remind me of something.....
