50 gallon Starfire rimless build

That's a nice combo, same as I run. I ran the 400 last winter and switched to the 250 for the summer. I know at 12", that 400 Radium combo will put 1600 par at the surface. With the 250 at the same height you should get about 1200. Go slow...

So that halide was just temporary. I ended up buying an 8-bulb ATI Sunpower. Should have it up late next week.

I also bought this new acrylic ATO reservoir. It has an access door on top thats roughly 4" x4". The reactor holds 5 gallons and has a viewing window on the front to see the water level, although you need good lighting to see inside. There is also a 1.5"-2" round hole in the back for the tubing and pump to access the reservoir. Quality build.

You can see my old 1.5-1.75 gallon reservoir in the back of pic 1. I got tired of continually filling it up.

I also bought a new skimmer. I wasn't satisfied with my Skimz SN123. I could never get skimmate to collect. Just got some gunk on the neck. I think it was too big.

I ended up buying the Ice Cap K-50. It's tiny, but very well built. Thick acrylic walls and a true gate valve. Only complaints I have are that the silencer is screwed to the cap and air tube connection to the pump isn't snug. Same with the pump outlet into the skimmer body. Those are easy fixes if necessary.

This is not my pic, obviously

This tank has been offline since June due to a move. As of yesterday, the tank is back up and water is starting to go back in tonight. Should be plumbed by Thrusday or Friday.

A local aquarium store has had all my live stock in shop.

looks like the Giesemann is back in action.
Yep. Much nicer look, and I missed the shimmer. I've had my mist rewarding success using halide. My 55 a few years back was stunning. Ran 2 250 watt Phoenix bulbs and 4 T5s.

See my 55 from 2015 below.

Picked up the live stock that made it through the 8 months that they were being stored at the lfs. Lost a lot of acros.

Need some input on how to tackle blue green cyano.

Tank cycled for 3 months and 2-3 weeks ago I transferred my 2 fish and all of my coral. I'm guessing that the addition of the new inhabitants and additional feeding for them sparked an imbalance. Do you think it will run it's course as the tank balances back out, or should I take action?

I still want to add a CUC, and small refugium and hard line my mini reactor in for carbon and got use, but I want to do that slowly.

Flow is pretty darn heavy. I have two MP10s running at full blast.

Thoughts?

You say you still want to add a fuge and carbon later but those are two things that will help combat the cyano.. I think you should make this a priority.
It’s not so bad right now and may take care of itself.
Ro unit is in perfect shape?

Trying to catch up on some other expenses first. What I want to do with my fugue and reactor will run me about $175, so waiting to makebthe purchases inneed to get those up and running.

My rodi could be an issue, or the issue. Just checked and I am getting 2 TDS.

is it slimy that you can suck out with a turkey baster? if not, its probably just algae and maybe looks a little blue due to lights.
I got algae when I was feeding heavy and reduced considerably when I started feeding less. is your skimmer skimming good?

It is. I did a 20% water change last week and sucked some out. Got gfo online today by T'ing off the return line. May get chaeto is another couple weeks to a month.
