500 Gallon Build

Got a little more done last night and this morning. Light hangers are painted, trimmed down, and mounted to the stand. Just kind of guessing at the right height, but its easily changable by just loosening the clamps a bit and sliding the pipe up or down.

Got a little bit of plumbing started as well. Only so much I can do without any equipment to work with here yet such as the hammerhead.

How long does an order from BRS take for you? I live in SE WI and my standard shipping time from them is always next day.:lol2:
 
Put this little creation together for the return line to split it up into the 4 returns of the tank.

Not glued to the pipe yet but just dry fitted. Looks like everything on the tank will come with barbs which I dont mind. Gives it some flexibily with vinyl tubing.

Hose clamps work well for holding the pipe up above the floor as they cant fit through.

And the stand is looking good, bought a new 4 foot level just for this haha as the only one I had was like 8 inches long.

Im hoping it is strong enough. Its 3/4" and does sag a very little bit when hanging a gallon of milk on one of them, but then to go any farther takes a lot of force! So I will probobly end up bending them slightly upward so when they drop down a tad it becomes straight.
 
I do not think it is centered. With the load you are putting on it you will see wear on the stand and it will start to warp.

The corners and edges of the tank should be supported by the outside edge of the stand.

I am afraid if you continue forward with this build the tank will fall straight through the center of the stand and you will have a mess all over the floor.

From my own experience please re think your stand build. This is a critical mistake that will cost you damage to your home and frustration.

The little sistern room next to the filtration room had a few tanks in it from the previous system. When I shut everything down I just left everything in those tanks and let it go. Eventually all the water evaporated and I had a mess of salt left behind! I cleaned the three tanks out and will probobly use one of them for a refugium. The other 2 I have no plans for.

This is the 65 gallon stock tank, I took the sand that was in the 75 in this room out and cleaned it up. Then I put the sand into this 65 and that will be my refugium.

This was the refugium in the previous system. Its 27 gallons but I have no plans for it this time around. Got it cleaned out and just sitting there. If I want to use it all I have to do is open the valve.

And here is the 75 gallon which was the dirtiest of all. Much better now after its vinegar bath. No idea what I would use this for. I think it's too big for a quarantine tank and will be using a 29 and a 20 for that purpose on a wrought iron stand I have in the shed somewhere.

Lol when I first started reading I was laughing, by the time I finished reading I thought there was seriously something wrong with the stand, this worried me. I'm supposed to be picking up a tank this week that is 48x96x36. Glad to hear it was just a joke![emoji1]

Removing the manual potentiometers and rewiring them to the apex VDM. I have multiple wire colors on the way to keep my channels separate easier when wiring them all up.

If I really wanted to go crazy more VDM modules would allow me to use several channels to have a sunrise and sunset moving across the tank with each row of lights seperately controlled.
