5017 controller problem

hi roger,
i recently bought this used unit from a fellow member. it worked at his house, but when i tried to set it up, the "too high" & "too low" lights are on and the alarm keeps going off. he said it's 2 yrs old & got it from marine depot. how can i trouble shoot this? thx,

This error code is generally going to mean it got wet, which if the cause, would tend to happen because it was packed with the pump still wet for transport, or, it is near an electromagnetic field. You could open it and look for any white or green deposits on the board (salt/copper corrosion) and try running it in a kitchen or bathroom using the sink as your water tank to test the sensor. This would rule out ballasts or X-10/wireless devices that may be causing interference.
