5017 help please

Hi,
I have a 5017 ATU that has an issue. I think the optical sensor has failed but I would like confirmation before I order a new one please.

The unit beeps every 5 seconds and lights up all of the LEDs then it displays just the 'level low' LED. This just repeats.

I understand that the new part needs to be soldered to the PCB which I can do but could you tel me how to open the unit, does it pull apart or is there something more to it?

Disconnect your pump and see if it then stays on. The cycling on and off is indicative of a bad pump or power supply, their is more power being drawn than available. There are just two screws on the back that hold the box together. This isn't a spare part we generally offer for sale, but you may be able to convince them to sell you one, usually it is only sold installed.

I disconnected the pump and the cycling stopped.

So glad I asked because I almost ordered a new sensor today.

So, is there a better option than a standard pump as they don't seem to last long, admittedly I use it to pump kalk rather the just RO as is intended.
