Recently had some servicing done on my tank, and the 5017 was unplugged during the servicing. Currently the 5017 is unable to power up; split second flashes of green are seen while plugging and unplugging the cord into numerous plugs. Pump has been replaced within a 6 month period. any recommendation on trouble shooting or is my unit done?

What you describe sounds like a bad connection, the most common scenario is that the power supply connection fell in a puddle when unplugged and has some corrosion inside, in this situation contact is intermittent and not reliable, I would check for browninsh or green corrosion at the power connection.

Problem has reoccurred, yet I do not believe it has to do with the power supply. Today the unit has failed once again, top off has been done manually for the past 4 days. Notably after topping off, the green led is on -showing that the tank is at the desired water level -. I believe the problem has to do with the IF sensor being corrupt.

So far I have tired to clean the sensor with a microfiber cloth soaked in vinegar to eliminate any calcium build up that might had of occurred. I do not believe this has helped the situation, are there any other recommendations regarding cleaning the IF Sensor?

OK, I misunderstood, I thought you had no lights on. The sensor should be soaked in vinegar for at least 2-3 hours, if that does not solve it, the optic sensor should be replaced.

Actually you understood right, No lights are on when water level is either too high or too low. The light (green) only comes on when the water level is at a desired height.

Currently cleaning the optic, searched around online and couldn't find a place to purchase the optic if it is needed. Any recommendations? Im Located in Southern California.

Problem is still consistent after the cleansing of the optic. Unit only seems to work when water level is at the desired height, displaying the green LED. When the water level is lower, the unit fails to function; Unit provides no reading of any LED's and seems to have shut off.

Please send it in, the optic sensor is not typically a DIY repair, it has 4 small wires and an associated capacitor and it must be soldered. Be sure to include a note with return address and phone number and a brief description of the problem, I don't need the holders but to be thorough I need the pump, power supply and controller.

Roger,
I have to thank you for your support! I got back the unit today and I must say there is a reason why I am a loyal Tunze customer!

I tried to mount the IR senor onto the mounts I have, does not seem to work. I was wondering if you guys switched mounts or have two different mounts?

I just tried it and the new sensor should fit an older mount, to install the optic sensor you will see the mounting plate has a sort of incline ramp at the top, the protruding fin on the sensor twists up this ramp.
