5017 Puzzle

Hi,
I've enjoyed my 5017 ATO for a year or two now, but suddenly it is not functioning correctly. When I turn it on, the yellow lights light up and it is supposed to pump a little bit of water, but the pump does not turn on. After 10 minutes, the yellow lights go off and the red lights go on.

I ordered a new pump and installed it, but the problem remains - the pump never turns on. I have not noticed any splashes or anything that might cause it to short out. The wires are well away from the water. If the pump is not the problem (unless the new and old pumps were somehow both broken), and the controller is not the problem, but the pump doesn't turn on, what is left?

Any ideas or directions?

Either both pumps are bad,possible but improbable

The wires are not properly inserted in the clips so they are making contact.

Their is a break in the wire to the pump from the controller or it came loose at the board.

Their is a cold solder joint somewhere on the board.

It has a two year warranty and I am in Austin, I would send it in.

Include pump, controller and power supply. Either bag the pump separately or make sure it is completely dry. Include a note with return address and phone number.

I replaced the wiring I used to extend the pump further from the control module. I used 18 AWG instead of 20 AWG but it started working again

Anything I should worry about re: the wiring?

If it gets any corrosion, this could be a cause, it will tend to wick in water and oxidize.
