5074 Calcium Dispenser

I'm thinking of getting the 5074 for dispensing Kalk. I already have an auto topoff setup with dual float switches and an Aqualifter pump. This setup is working fine for auto topoff and I'm not looking to replace it. Can I add the 5074 to this setup?

How many gallons of saturated Kalk will it produce before needing a refill?

Thanks

I downloaded the manual and see it is mounted inside a bucket. My plan was not to do that. Can it just hang on the outside of a sump? My water storage containers are not open top buckets like that.

Here is how I want to do it. Everything is existing now. I want to put the 5074 in-line with what I have.

Their are a couple problems with your intended set up. First, I seriously doubt the Aqualifter has enough power to handle the backpressure from the 5074. Second, the 5074 is always to be mounted in a top off bucket, kalk is very corrosive, hardens the tubes and innevitably they will pop off

Thanks for the reply! What pump would be sufficient to do the job? The 5074 in the bucket is purely a safety concern? Would it function externally? Not asking if its is Tunze approved to use it this way, just curious if it would function.

It would function but it is basically a guaranteed disaster. If you could rig up your floats to use our 12V pump 5000.02 it could work. Keep in mind floats are unreliable in general and if they fail the amount of kalk added could wipe out your tank.

Thanks again. Sounds like I need to rethink it. As far as the floats go, they seem to work fine. There are two of them magnetically mounted. The 2nd float will override the first if the level rises. Both would have to simultaneously fail to have a problem.

I didn't know about the Osmolator when I setup the auto topoff. Although what I have works quite well, I probably would have went that way if I had known.

I do like the idea of the Kalk dispenser. I have to figure out a way to get it or something similar set up.

We used floats for over 10 years, they are not meant for continuous use and innevitably fail. usually they last about 2 years.
