50b Sumpless Mixed Reef Build!

Still didn't work... I've got coralline forming on my wavemakers. It's hard to tell where else it may be because the TBS rock is already so covered...

yea, i realized Fox is actually a bit north of me near Baltimore. Going to check in with them and see if they let people come in so i can tour his 700g and 400g cube and everything else.

I don't think he does, pretty sure it's in his basement. That would be dope though, let me know what they say.

WOHOOO! Looking good, I can envision the future growth already!
Thanks boss, will be mounting a bunch of the acro frags this week so it will start taking shape soon. The funny thing is I have yet to run a full lighting schedule for more than a few weeks since I've gotten coral in the tank. I was light acclimating continuously because I kept adding frags and then I had to reduce my photo period to 5 hrs to battle some nuisance algae.

Now I've been gradually bringing it up to my full schedule which will be done by the weekend. I expect some serious growth/improved coloration (especially in my acros) in the next few months.

I've also starting dosing a little reef energy A&B as well as Phytoplankton and have seen improved polyp extension/coloration and an explosion in microfauna (pineapple sponges/feather dusters/copepods/amphipods etc).

All along I have been target feeding my lps PE Mysis and PE Calanus, as well as broadcast feeding my whole tank with Coral Frenzy once a week.

I'm very excited to see some faster growth soon!

Ok gents (and ladies maybe?), picked up two baby ocellaris clownfish today! They are currently in their first TTM tank doing great, and even ate some pellets. I'm super excited to get them through my quarantine process and into my reef!

My qt protocol is as follows:

TTM (Tank Transfer Method) combined with Prazipro.
-12 days, 4 transfers
-Prime dosed on 2nd day of each transfer
-Prazipro dosed during 2nd and 4th transfer

I use 10 gallon brutes, 50w heaters, disposable airstones, floating thermometers, and pvc elbows.

Next is 2-4 weeks observation in QT, additional treatment as necessary. I have copper, chloroquine phosphate, and formalin, but would prefer not to use any unless I have to. These are captive bred clowns from a local breader, so I'm not expecting brook or velvet (fingers crossed)

I will snap some photos of the kids tomorrow [emoji3]

I was also sent a free cornbred forest fire digitata and burning lepaestrea from a vendor I've used in the past. She wants a frag of my UWW rainbow sunburst monti to grow out so she's trying to butter me up [emoji6] .

I also stumbled across a local reefer who has over $100,000 in rainbow chalices in his tank. It is absolutely ridiculous. He has every single one you can imagine. He is also a super chill guy and is selling me a one eye frag of Cornbred's Rainbow Crush Chalice. This retails for about $500 and he's hooking it up for $200. Will be my most expensive frag by far (so I'm a little nervous), however it is one of the coolest corals I've ever seen in my life and will more than pay for itself with one frag. He said it's not demanding either. Frag was cut today and I pick it up when it's healed in 7 days. Pics to come!

You might want to consider the LifeReef HVS2-24 HOB skimmre, as I am considering this for myself on a 40g B sumpless tank too.

http://www.lifereef.com/venturi.html

If you look at the LR skimmer thread you will see that most all are pleased & the body is rock slid & some guys used their skimmers for over 20 years. It has a life time warranty on the body & you can use any pump as long as it is rated the same flow requirement.

I like it also because I am sumpless now, but I can also run it externally or in sump if I change my tank in the future.

I already have a skimmer and am very happy with it, thanks though.
