I am starting a 55 gallon fowlr tank and need a protein skimmer. It has to be a hob because all the glass it tempered. Would a SeaClone Protein Skimmers-150 be good. it say is can handle aquariums up to 150 gallons. Does any one have pryor experience with this skimmer.

Have you checked the product reviews forum here on RC?
I had a CPR Bak Pak on a 55 gallon for a year and it worked pretty good.

oof. maybe one bad experience against one good, but i had the cpr one on my 46g, and when i switched to a DAS EX-1, the amount of crap it pulled out in a few days vs. the cpr was... eye-opening.

DO NOT go with the Seaclone. Do a search on here for Seaclone and you will find a ton of threads against this model of skimmer. I have the Seaclone and hate it with a passion, it does not work...period.

It requires several modifications to function properly and even then it doesn't pass as a decent skimmer We are having a discussion here http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1463845 about this skimmer and the mods. I am, in no way, recommending you purchase this skimmer, but thought I would reference this thread in case someone comes across here and has one.

if you are dead set on a hob skimmer the cpr works good IMO as long as it is on a 50g or smaller tank and lightly stocked

i would recomend a hob over flow box and sump with a good skimmer like a asm g2 and some good cheato

I have two AquaC skimmers, and Urchin and an EV120. Follow AquaC's directions and they do well. I'm fond of these spray induction skimmers and they have worked well for me. But if you wait a few minutes, someone will bad mouth it for some reason. You have to follow the directions and maintain the skimmer for good results (the same as any other skimmer).

I run the Octo 100 hob on my 75 and it does pretty good. I have had a better experience with it than my Remora w/mj1200. Also check the Octo's prices compared to Aqua C's. If money is no object than check out C&C's hob, or a Deltec MCE 600.
