55 Gallon Flow Question

So i'm dealing with some low flow areas in my 55 Gallon tank, 48x12x18 are the dimensions i think.. I know and I have read that the 55 gallons are notorious for having terrible flow.. But I was hoping that someone had some suggestions, I'm currently running 2x Hydor 1050 power heads. I'm not sure my placement is correct or what not.. Any advise is well taken - Here is a link to my photobucket, our browsers are work here dont like Java so i can't link them.

I have a 60, two Korelia 1400 plus a magdrive 9.5 return and I still can't get good flow to the bottom corners.

Yeah, I'm getting the same issue, I'm eventually going to upgrade to something different but not for another year or so.. So i'm hoping that someone had any ideas

Saltydrip- Could you post a pic with power head placement? Also, what else do you have for flow?

On my 55 I have a HOB for top flow, four korolias 1050 (two on each side) and one misc powerhead behind the rocks. Tank is a fowlr and fish seem good with the flow. No sand storms either

Wow was just reading this thread, I only have 2 750 korolias PH's. One on each end with one being higher up and one being lower, and pointing in different direction and have often wondered if I had enough. I have a few LPS's and softies.

I have 2 korelia 750s as well. My question is should i put them facing eachother on both sides of the tank?, Or mount them on the back-facing forward?-->so the flow hits the front glas and rotates around? May be a silly question, but what are the best places to mount the powerheads?

I have 2 Hydor 4's on a Wavemaker 2 in my 55g flow seems fine. If I had the money would probably go with MP40's and dial them down

The first pic is the korilia mini blowing behind my tank. The second is my EBay cheapy blowing at a 45 out of the upper left corner. I have a little bit of hair algae growing in all my nuks and crannies and it all has some glow blowing across it.

I'm running one 750, two 500's and one 250 aqueon pumps in my 56 column with no problems. The 750 flows behind across the back. The rest flows crossing forward.

It woulda like you are in danger of having circular flow with that arrangement of you 750. That's bad, you want turbulant flow.

I would put them on opposite sides pointed at each other or at the same point in the tank so you get turbulence in the center of the tank, use you return or another power head to get flow around the outside of the tank
