I''m soon will have my 560g delivered and wanted your thoughts of what fish you would stock the tank with. At least we wont have the headache of the tank police on this one 8 )

I like the tangs and angels of coarse
I just wanted your opinion of which fish to add first and which fish that are reef safe work well together for this large of a tank.

The tank is 120x36x30 it is 3 side viewable. The center will have 3 rock structures down the middle so the fish can be seen from all three side as well as having a full 26' circle to swim.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

I'd get a pair of clownfish and some gobies and start with those. Then slowly stock up with wrasses, anthias, tangs, and possibly angelfish.

Instead of clowns add a big school of either chromis or threadfin cardinals, they fill out the mid/upper part of the tank nicely.

I love wrasses as well. They are just so cool. You can mix the fairy/flasher wrasses, is that the route you were thinking of taking? Maybe a couple of pairs/harems?

I would get a school of blue tangs. 3+ the little nickle sized ones. a school of yellows, chevron tang, achiles tang, Regal angel, blue lined Angel, Mystery wrasse, a duo a clowns, purple tang, anthias, a couple of freshwater mollies.

I figure I'll start with a nice grouping of wrasses, anthias, chromis

Let the tank settle a little then start on tangs ( don't know which and how many yet )

Then maybe 2 or 3 angels

Personally, I think tangs are the most over rated fish in the hobby. They are extremely big for most people's tanks, can be a bit nasty, don't eat enough algae and bad things to justify their size and waste production, etc. I guess they look nice in natural reefs because the natural reefs are so gigantic compared to our tanks that they look like damsels do in our tanks!!

I personally would concentrate in larger number of smaller fish. They will provide so much more movement, looks, color, and variety to the reef that you will love it. If you must, get no more than 2-3 tangs, but at least get soemthing uncommon to make it worthwhile (gem, black, etc.). You will be hard pressed to find many people with larger tanks that have been in the hobby for a long time with a lot of tangs in their tanks. Steve Weast is one of the very few that comes to mind.

Some of the fish that would be in my list would be:
cardinals (there are many types)
damsels (many types too)
chromies
anthias
fairy wrasses
blennies

I would forgo the idea of angels. There is not a single one that in due time will develop the apettite for stuff in your tank. It is not whether they will or not, but how long is it going to take for it to happen.

Never been much of a chromis fan, but in that size tank they should probably look nice. Any thoughts on which wrasses yet? There are so many really nice ones. Just make sure you are able to feed the anthias, that's all that's ever prevented me from getting them.

I think i should have a nice pod population with a 240 sump/refuge
I will also feed them 2 a day and 2 day feed from autofeeder

schools of smallers fish are great, I love seeing schools of anthias but I think every big tank needs a 1-3 center piece fish. Maybe a large lipstick tang or you could try guess and checking angels or gentle triggers until you find one that works
