The Cardinal
Swede living in Finland
Hello guys
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
SPK: I feed the parents frozen brine/mysis with added vitamins. I feed the fry live brine with vitamins and enriched with live phyto.
SKIP0211: If you mean survival rate during collection I think I get most of them, although a few might be eaten by the mother (I feed heavily during the collection to keep her occupied with something else). I lost 2 babies after around 2 weeks but now they all seem to do fine. I now have live pyto which I hope will lead to a higher survivalrate.
JHALLEWELL: It is difficult to sex them. It is not so much the length of the dorsal fin but how it is angled that decides if it is a male or female. The male has a dorsal fin that is angled closer to the body and the females are more vertical. The "easiest" way to sex them by means of looking at them imo is to look at their heads. The males have a more square jaw which makes them look a bit like a bulldog. Not easy though
.
NPADEN: Nice batch and breeding container. Did you make this yourself? Yes it is difficult to count them and that is why I add them together when I catch them from the main aquarium.
FIREWIRE: here is one link about breeding this wonderful fish:

Good luck!
