5th dayreadings are they going ok

Ok I have taken readings from my testkit just want to know if I am going in the right direction

Amonia ---0
ph----7.8
nitite ---0.50
nitrate---40

i also got alow reading on salt it was1.018 on my hydrometer.I added salt any trick to knowing how much salt to add?

Also I was told earlier to not use everything that cam in the fluval 405 canister what should I put in it.

Is there anythng else I should be doing now?

everything looks to be doing fine. just add the salt slowly till your reach the point you want. just remember not to add salt directly to the take after you have livestock in the tank.

for the filter the only things you should run through it would be carbon and maybe some phosphate remover. but clean it regulary

So I have to open it and remove the spnges that came an the little round things that came. What is going to catch the dirt and debris if I remove the sponges?

canisters are bad unless your very meticulous about your cleaning if it. You can use the media in it if you will clean it atleast twice a week. If your planning to do a reef tank, you should get rid of it now.

Do you have a skimmer?
How much live rock do you have?

I put my fluval 4 plus in there for now just to get more motion no sponge or nothng is in ther just blowing is there any area I should face it right now i have it blowing right over the middle

Gradually bring up your salt readings by adding .026 salt r/0 water with your top ups instead of just r/0 water

the background with all the corals is just a background not real corals :lol:

all I see is LR and some alage in the tank.

Yes it is a background i was trying to show the pump to see if you thought it was ok to be there blowing but I don't see no algae

Here is a better pic.After hearing about the canister can Someone tell me what exactly to go buy it has 8 slots in total and the spnge

The rocks don't show those black spots in the tank only in the pic is the algae you see ok ?

FWIW, the nitrate may not actually be that high, since nitrite shows up as a lot of nitrate with some nitrate test kits.
