6 Line feedings

I just got a new six line wrasse for my tank. My tank is approaching 1 yr now and has 90+ lbs for LR for him to graze on. I notice that he has a very full belly from grazing which makes me happy. I was just curious, what have you guys noticed your six lines eat? Frozen foods? Flakes? Let me know, so I can try and get him to accept prepared food. So far he didn't seem interested in Mysis, but they are kind of a large food size for him. (Tonight I will feed the tank brine shrimp and see if he likes it) Right now the six line is small, probably the size of my pinky finger from the tip to the second knuckle. (About 1" - 1 3/8" long)

Once I figure out what this guy will eat, I am probably going to start making my own food mixture per Eric Borneman's directions. (If I still have that link) I just want to be sure I am going to meet needs of my fish with the mixture.

anything really had a tank with a few flatworms even until i put in a sixline now tank is all good. I keep one in both tanks.

Okay, thanks guys. I just wanted to cover my bases and make sure that I am taking good care of the new guy. I'll keep watching him at dinner time to see what he eats. Once I see him eat prepared foods, then I'll stop worrying about him so much.

Darrick - That is actually why I choose to add this guy to the tank. I've always had a mild flatworm problem since day one and have even treated the tank with flatworm exit a couple of times. However, they hide in the crevices of the rock and they all don't get killed 100% because the water doesn't flow through the rocks well enough. If I can't kill the flatworm myself, at least I can add something into my tank that will prey on them. (Or at least I hope it works this way for me too)

Not trying to hijack your thread but what else do you have in the tank with these fish. do you have any tangs? are they typically peaceful with other fish? I was thinking about getting one LMK how it does

Last six line I had got a little aggressive, but could have been because he was not in a very big tank. I have a leopard wrasse now who is really cool.

They're tank bullies. Also, don't get one with a dragonette/mandarin or they'll out-compete them for pods and you'll starve your dragonette.

I have 2 O. Clowns, a yellow tank, a flame angle, and the sixer. He is the last fish in as I don't think I'm going to add anymore fish after this. Everyone should be fine with his agressive nature.

Very similar to mine--I've got all those + a couple of damsels and a lawnmower blenny.

All are happy. The tang keeps them all in line.

6line r great but it will be the last fish u add.

never heard that before mine was one of first in tanks, usually its pseudochromis/dottlybacks that are recommended as a last fish added. All my sixline are good community fish in my tanks.

my sixline was the second addition to my tank and he is very well behaved. He eats anything. Flakes, small pellets, he tries to eat bigger pellets. He has only been in my tank for about 2 or 3 months now and he has done nothing to my pod population. I still have pods everywhere on the glass.

i have had a six line and mandrin together in a 75 for 2 years now. they are both fat and happy.

mine eats everything from bananas to nori to squid
