6 Line Wrasse a Jumper?

I'm about to go pick up a six line wrasse from Wet Pets (great store btw), and was curious if anyone had any experience with them jumping out of tanks. I currently have no lids on my tank, and I'd rather not put the light difusers back on. So just curious if anyone had any thoughts. Thanks.

Dave

ps. Great meeting last night, learned a lot, had fun, got cool frags.

I bought one several months ago and keep it in an uncovered tank. It jumped out of the tank with in hours of being placed in the tank. I happened to be in the room when it jump out so it survived.

It hasn't happened again.

Yeah, probably a good idea. We heard that they could be jumpers, but for many months we never saw him try. Then one day I found him dried on the floor. It was really sad. Chris (cmc0814) and I looked at what openings we hadn't got covered, and he jumped out of seriously maybe a 2 sq. inch place. So who knows how many times he tried before making it.

Good luck though!

Here is how it works, any fish can jump.

Some are notorious for it others its almost totally unheard of.

But all fish can jump*

*OK technically since they don't have legs they don't really jump but when startled can dart quickly and leave the water.

I saw one jump out of a tank at Premier Aquatics in tulsa, thankfully they wouldn't sell it to me after that, cause it ended up dying.

Lazyreefer lost one that way too. He may not know how he lost it but I found the 6 line behind his tank when I was painting his wall on his last house.

I ahve kept dozens of wrasses. No problems. They are prone to jumps, but so are all fish. Give them a good rock work to live in and im sure they will be fine.

Now................diamond gobies.....that a whole 'nuther story. Back in the UK we had a pair of daimond gobies. Every night the lights would go out and we would hear a pair of splashes. Both leapt from the tank and went to the glass partition. They did that for several months before i sold the tank prior to moving to America. I have no idea if they stayed there a while or not....but it was truly the oddest thing.

now the snails we had that left the tank every night is a whole other story.

Paul.
