6 month cycle

Decided to start doing two tests a day for a couple weeks.

Here are my numbers for this morning
CA 500
Mag 1500
dKH 9.2
Nitrite 0
Ammonia <0.25
Phosphate 0
Salinity 1.025

My CA Media was running about half way so I did clean the old NeoMag out my CA Reactor then added the ARM media and topped it off with Fresh NeoMag. Which explains the small up swing.

No new bleaching / death in my tank.

I think maybe the tank got cold and/or had bigger than normal temp swings.
When asked about temp. above, you responded with how you have it programmed. But you did not say the temp is xx to yy.
Are you actually measuring and monitoring the temp.?
If so, are you measuring in two locations (sump and tank) and with two thermometers? If you are measuring are you montiroing (are you looking at the temp. readings often)? Alternatively, you can use alarm devices.
On the heater, I'd say don't run a single 800 watter if you can avoid it. Better to have three 300s (or three 250s) that way if one fails it won't be all or nothing.

Thanks Chuck, and yes I am watching the temp. I do have alarms set to email me if the temp reaches 78.9 or dips down to 77.5. Since I have an Apex controller it has been charted for a while now. The only time I was having spikes in my readings was about the time the heater started having issues. I talked to Neptune Systems and they said stray volts could cause the weird readings of pH and ORP.

Since removing the bad heater my Apex has read everything stable and my tank does what the Apex has been programmed to do.

Run a polyfilter and carbon to clean up after the heater failure.

My local fish shop told me I could either run carbon or do several water changes. Since I had more salt than carbon on hand I optted for the water changes.

I run poly filters in my media tray as stated above.

It was not over! While we cleaned the tank last night we kept feeling something. My wife just had a manicure and she say it was very strong around her finger nails. She talk me into a quick manicure so I could feel it too. I think it was her head, of course i had humor her. I feel nothing when I put my hands in the tank. She said stand where she stand. I feel nothing I said. She said wear her slippers and I reply ok but no pictures. OUCH!!! That not feel so good.

To narrow it down we unplug everything and no current going through water. Now one by one we plug in again and put one finger in tank each time. Soon we come to UV filter, OUCH that is it!

Now I have to ask do I need UV Filter? For now I unplug and wonder if I need it and if I need it should I have it repair. The brand is MWave 40 Watt and I reed they are good.

What do you think?

too funny

It seems this issue is back. Going to run some tests today on the water and report back just wanted to open the topic back up so I can get some idea where to start besides the testing of the water.

It would not hurt to invest in a grounding plug and maybe use a multimeter to test for current in your tank.
