60 gallon cube flow

Ron Popeil

Love them clownfish.
i currently have two korallia evo 4s in my 60 gallon cube. I also have two 1" sea swirls (both which recently stopped rotating) that are pushing about 1200 to 1800 gph from my sump return.

some days i feel like i have enough water movement in there, but lately i feel like i should have more.

i dont really want to add another korallia in there, and i dont particularly feel like spending the money for a vortech yet, unless it would be the best choice.

what other small, inconspicuous powerheads could i put in my tank that would really crank up water movement? keep in mind, with my close quarters, i also dont want to blast the tissue off the corals...

would a single vortech placed in the middle of the back pane be enough for the whole tank? or would some smaller tunze powerheads aimed strategically be best?

any suggestions? here is a picture from early last year to give some reference.

One Mp40 at full blast on reefcrest mode is 2080 gph. Don't have to worry about strategic placement and blowing the tissue off corals. It's expensive but worth the cost when you consider the amount some corals like chalices are going for. i have 2 mp10s on my 50 gallon cube and I have no regrets dropping that much cash for them.

I have a 60 gal cube coming together my self and I was going to go in the direction of koralia but I think I may just go for the mp40 I had one on my 75 gal and trust me you wont regret it.

I'll be setting up my 70G Cube soon. I went with an MP40. I'm thinking back wall center and I'm good for flow.

so with bursts of full strength, or even if run at full strength continuously...the flow is broad enough to not strip tissue off sps? just how close can it get to a colony?

I have an mp10 ES set very slightly off-centered in my 70g cube. I have a stag horn maybe 6 inches from the flow of it, no problems. I run on Reefcrest and Nutrient Transport Mode with the LEDs lighting up to the second from last (right hand side of the controller).

And I plan on getting another one and running at the same setting.
