So total for Xmas I got $600, and I was either gonna put it towards a laptop computer or a flat panel TV. Can't really decide....So help me pick!!

Flat panel - Samsung or Sony. Don't shop by size or price - go for quality. A good 32" kicks the balls out of a so-so 40"

second the samsung and sony. add sharp to that list. use to work at a electronics store selling tvs. this doesn't make me an expert but their picture quality is very good. if you can, i would wait until after the super bowl. they always have deals due to returns.

You've got a box you can see tv on: if you're typing at a desk, you're killing your back sooner or later. I'd go for an easy chair and a laptop. You can get a decent one from Dell for around that price, but 600 won't get you a very big tv.

Thats not a TV Jack, would make a nice monitor for my PC though.

What do you want for 600 bucks? :D I did see them at the store and the picture quality is pretty good, but the reality is 600 bucks doesn't buy much tv anymore.

Dude ditch the electronic do-dads in lieu of 3 prostitutes and a massage go for the instant gratification. Its only money...

Seriously, are you gonna remember what size TV you had on your death bed? No one will care.

Yeah, why wasnt THAT a choice?????

An HDTV is just the tip of the iceburg and you'll want a nicer one than $1200 will get you. After the TV comes the HD subcription bills (I know you work for Charter, maybe you can get a deal ), a good DVD player (upconverting or HighDef), and a Dolby Digital stereo system with good speakers and a sub-woofer.

Been there, done all that, and I still could spend thousands more for nicer equipment. I will say that a nice home theater ROCKS big time !!!!
