600 gal display/900+ gal build thread in the Chicago 'burbs.

Electrical tape... great idea! Thanks.

Thanks for the compliment on the tank.

I received my bubble coral, sim orang and blue rics, pink zoos. And an acan today. They are sitting in quarantine atm. I also made a bit of progess on the lights. The first complete fan setup is installed and it works great. I might have gone a wee bit to the overkill but it works and is silent. I have to install the second one now.

Also messed around with my dursos a little. That's my next big project.

I need to get some up to date pictures posted.

I have been reading this post for the last three hours, VERY impressive. Love the tank and all the wood work you have put in the room. About the only thing that I kinda, sort of, would have had to done alittle differant, I would have to be able to see the tank from your office. Like I said VERY IMPRESSIVE.

I would have loved to be able to see the tank from the office. Unfortunately there was no real way to do this and hide the entrance to the tank room :(

By updates I'm sure you mean pictures :) Only new addition so far is a nice sized blonde naso tang. I'll see if I can get some shots up.

Kudos on an excellent tank and basement build. Thanks for documenting the progress. Seeing all the work you have put into your basement motivated me to finally get around to a few projects I've been slacking on on my tank! ;)

1 purple firefish (already ahve 1)
2 red firefish
1 male bartlett anthias
2 female bartlett anthias (already have 1)
1 Royal Gramma (already have one... hope i get lucky and get the opposite sex)
2 Rainford's goby

I didn't get to it last night. I dropped a vise on my foot. Don't ask. :(

Anyways, corals are all doing good except 2. The frogspawn I had to move to my refugium. My Emperor Angel decided he liked the way it tasted. He also seems to like zoos :(. He ate some very expensive ones. He's leaving the torch alone though. Another one of the sps you gave me was browned out when I got home so I'm not positive what it was exactly. It never really recovered. It slowly faded over the next 3 weeks.

The lps are growing like weeds, although at different rates than I would have thought. The lime yellow/green one that was huge in your tank is one of the slowest growers for me. The color has deepened compared to your tank on that particular piece. However other pieces like the dark pink acro staghorn is lightened to more of a pastel color. I think the problem with that particular piece is that its getting too much light. I would have never thought I would have a light issue with TOO much, but I can definitely bleach sps if I'm not careful. The monti you gave me is growing VERY fast. Its damn near the size of a bread plate and accelerating in growth. The encrusting montis are growing slow. The cluster/branching acros are growing at a pretty good clip.

As soon as I can hobble down there I'll take some shots.

I need to post them. I drew out a little map by hand I think I'll image then explain exactly what they are. Well I worked the par meter and Miztic drew the map :)

Is it just me, at the start when you was building the tank etc, the pics came thick and fast. But not that often now? I know the foot, but before. I'm sorry if sounds to moanie, but i just think its, that great of a build, i could look at the most rubbish pic for hours.

I know I know :) The real reason is that I have to be much more agressize keeping teh glass clean. I feel bad taking picks through dirty glass. So I clean the glass then realize there is a bunch of particulate in the water so I can't shoot till it settles. At that point I've become distracted with something else.

I'll do my best to take some shots tonight.
