600 gallon Acrylic and Glass Reef Construction.

im not sure if this is better or not....just different. It is certainly more open which should suit some of the larger tangs I have. The blonde naso has grown some nice streamers while it has been in the 220g tank. The trigger has laso gotten quite huge- which is not surprising as he eats like a pig.

And the first two fish are added.

Two chromis less than an inch in length. Pretty much disappeared. LOL

My wife cracked up at that :p . Glad to hear you are up and running.

Thanks for posting your build progress Paul. I missed your lecture in Little Rock, so I've been watching this thread and some more of your fellow COMAS members build threads. You guys have some interesting approaches to aquascaping and I'll be employing some of your techniques to a 55g build I'll start over the Xmas break. Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to seeing how well this turns out for you. So far, it looks outstanding.

I saw the tank in person tonight...looks great and the flow is awesome...got to see it go both ways..also got to see the two tiny little fish in there...they would swim...stop...and ride the flow to the other side of the tank..LoL...and the rock work is great looking..

Well.....now I am happy with the internal flow, its time to get the external flow done. The pipework is done but I have to connect the new orca 250 inline with the overflow and then figure out how I want the return pump to be arranged as well as build a manifold to pump water around the fish room.

There is still a deal of scaping to be done internally to hide the last penductors, but that shouldnt be too difficult.

Its been a long weekend, but worth it.

thinkin' about all that flow in your tank...I hope your naso's streamers don't disappear once he's transfered. My midas blenny used to have really long streamers and since being in the tank w/the wave2k the tips have fallen off, regrown, fallen off again, and now they're long again.

That is incredible commitment. Congrats on your patience and longsuffering. I am excited to wathc it finally come back together. I always learn a lot when I watch the builds done on this website. That 340gallon is pretty incredible also. It almost makes me want to get another one myself.

What kind of sand do you have there in your display?

I think it is caribsea aragamax. I dont have any bags left to check, sorry

here are a few pictures to give you an idea of the flow in there.

Since the tank is not totally full the CL pulls air every so often, as it does so the air is shredded to microbubbles by the pump and then shot out of the penductors.

While I wouldnt want that when the tank is full, right now it is good as I can see how the penductors are working and how they are angled.

This is a semi full tank shot as the air is fist blown out of the penductors:

---notice the chromis...looks kind of lost in there.

here is a closer view of the middle penductors, shutter speed was 1/60th second...so you can tell there is some velocity in the system.

Looking at the flow i may need to adjust the lower PD to give a smoother flow across the tank bottom.

As it is there are small vortexes of sand that crop up every so often and move around the bottom.

---apologies for not cleaning the tank front....im in and out constantly and leaving drips everywhere.

I like the way the plumbing turned out. It sounds like it works the way you hoped. Will there be as many corals in this tank or mostly fish?
