A Naso tang trigger to be precise.

I have had this one for many eyars and he is the pride of my tank.
Very peaceful and absolutely gorgeous.

Your more than welcome to come to my home down here in florida anytime for some tank help lol.

Love the build it is amazing.

I have to know where to find the tang trigger that is amazing.

I am curious about the acrylic and glass - the glass is sealed onto the front panel acrylic? - all four sides? - is there an air pocket in between the 2 - has there been a discussion as to fogging in the space? I know sometimes people with double pane glass in their house windows fogging in the air space. When the glass was glued to the acrylic did it matter what the humidity was?

Is there a thread you know of where this topic has been discussed - I don't want to dilute the rest of the thread with this topic if you don't want to.

Following the thread - very nice beyond words.

Thanks, Nich.

IT isn't actually Acrylic over glass. there is an acrylic edge that holds a Starfire glass panel in the tank. It is behind the black acrylic in the photo below.

The premise is really quite simple. You can not glue glass to acrylic, but you can seal it. So....he built a tank almost identical to my old one, all out of acrylic. This time the front and back panel are of black acrylic. During construction, the middle of the front panel was cut back out to leave an approxiamte 2 inch strip all the way round. On the inside of this a special silicon is used and a panel of starfire glass placed, inside the tank, and sealed to the rim of acrylic. the result....a lightweight acrylic tank with a starfire front. the best of both worlds.

and this is the front- fully assembled tank

This is a great Idea, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I have dreams of a 10'x5'x3' tank separating my living and family rooms some day, and after seeing this I know how I want it made.

i too love this idea. i hate the scratches i already have in my tank. what is the special silicone?

it will be a couple of years until i can build another tank but i want to start planning now.

who is the tank builder?

ok, glass over acrylic, etc when I said acrylic over glass (my mistake) but still, I would be interested in knowing/learning about the double panel air gap/fogging/etc question or further reading if it was considered.

The project...

The project...

Paul,

It was great to see the work in progress yesterday... I will watch with interest to see how your coral develop to fill in the reef, such as your previous beauty!

Thnaks for the explanation Vegasreefer. You are correct, its glass held in place by an acrylic rim, like a picture frame or a porthole even. So far it has worked very well. The tank is very solid.

The Builders were A.G.E out of Dallas. Tom is a great guy to work with, very professonal and extremely knowledgable about his products.

This tank was made to within a 16th of an inch to my specs, not bad to say it is 8 feet long.

As you saw it is coming along. Now I have managed to take one of the frag tanks down I need to get it replumbed into the system in the garage. Once that happens the main tank can be emptied of all the frags I have and then I can finish the last part of the scaping.

Right now I have an algal outbreak which is just part of the algal cycle. A few days without lights will really help it along. This will also resolve itself now I have the refugium connected. So far the refugium is just a deep sand bed until I get the lights hung over it later today.

I promise to post pictures once things look a little better both in the tank and in the fish room.

Not one of the tank, but a pic of one of the corals I have in there.

this one is from GregC- Thanks.

I didn't find the trigger in my search, is there another name I can search for one with?
