600 Gallons System - i2ik's Journal

I saw someone else here on RC having one in his tank too... i think its Pieter van Suijlekom but i am not sure... will try to find it for you later on

Thank you Richard. Just wondering did you ever change the valve on the schuran for something better? I also did notice in the past that the valve is hard to adjust...

How are you feeding your new reactor? With your return or with the peristaltic pump?

Thanks

untamed12 has one - just posted on his build to get his input too. Would like to see if this is a rule or if its a hit or miss fish like some angels.

Green Thumg, the GEO is being feed by an Maxijet 1200 pump. The same valve is on the GEO... maybe you are right, should have try another valve... if that would be the problem... oh man.......!!! Havent thought about that...

Mcliffy2: do you have a link to his thread? I would like to know his answer too :)

No..it isn't me that has one. (although I would buy one in a second if I saw it). I very much doubt I'll ever see one of them in Canada.

The parrotfish is doing very well, eating everything and not touching any corals. Its a quoyi parrotfish, being told to be the only reef safe parrotfish. I read in a couple of European website people saying them to be safe, so i gave it a try and it never touch any corals. Grazing on the rocks for algea, and to also shortening his teeth. He is doing a pretty good job in eating algea of the rocks, just like a rabbitfish or a foxface would do. No secret in keeping a parotfish in a tank. I think that all of the parrotfish except for this quoyi can't be keep in a reef.

M U S T try to find one..... :D never seen it before in any LFS???

I'm going to talk to Old Town Aquarium tomorrow...they've got as good a shot of anyone in the US of getting them. So they are pretty common in the wild, hardy, and possibly reef-safe (at worst hit or miss)...sounds like there is demand, and supply will meet it soon enough if thats the case.

Untamed12: i bought it in Montreal, if you are interested, i can let you know where i got it :)

mcliffy2: let me know what you find out! I have seen it a couple of time here in only one LFS... once they have it in stock, its gone in 3 days... I am sure the demand is there!

Bought some corals today...

This one looks like an tennuis acropora... beige with blue tips

Yeah, I read this thread before - his tank is huge and was always my dream to one day have a tank like that...!! one day....dreams...dreams...dreams :)

Anyway, agree healthy achilles tang is a rarelity nowadays..I'm also looking for one!!

One of my declivis is really sick, i have no idea what he have. He was ok yesterday, eating flakes and frozen food, at night, i saw him in a corner, not willing to move much. This morning, i went down to check, he was breathing fast, still at the same place, would swim a round very fast like he was in panic, and would come back to his corner. He have not been eating all day and he does not look too well :(

The other one, smaller is doing ok. He have a bit of ick on him, but is eating as usual and swim normaly. I dont know what happened to my bigger declivis. He was doing very well, eating more aggressively than the small one and today, he does not look good :( They were ready to go in the tank as i did not see significant dommage to the corals i put in the QT tank...
While he was swimming in speed mode in the tank, i think i saw his belly was kinda gray color... maybe he is having some infection... what should i do?! We will see tomorrow whats going on, hope to see him back swimming in the tank...

Sorry to hear about that Richard. My Pyramids was also like that...one day swimming and eating fine, and the next lying on the sand bed. Not sure with em' butterflies..

Hope your will recovered!!

Added a clam today, wierd thing, my nassarius snails came to eat the clam...
I moved the clam in the QT tank, the butterflies are not picking at it

My nassarius are huge... they are not like the usual small nassarius... wondering if they are safe now.. havent seen them eat any kind of livestock before...

Things are going fast in the hobby... I just noticed today that Ecotech have upgrade to a second generation for the vortech wireless pumps. I can also upgrade for a second generation of magnet for them. I am glad that all the pumps i have are those vortech pumps, only if they could work with the profilux, that would be a really good combo!

I am about to put 2 Vortech pump in the center back of the tank to get a more random flow.
