600 Gallons System - i2ik's Journal

My overflow drains are made for 1.5" bulkhead. My return will be on a OM 4 ways, each on a wavy sea wavemaker so no need to drill for that :)

My good friends that came to help me out! Most of us are right in the middle of our midterms session so i am very grateful for them to help me out today! We were 12 peoples but even with 12 peoples, going up the stairs and trying to fit it in the door was not an easy job, especially in this weather...

Can't wait to see more.

Now are they really your good friends or are they just your students being bribed with promise of good grades:)

haha 6 of them are my friends, no bribed, only up for the great challenge ;) We are pretty much all in different field but believe me, they already got good grades! :P the rest are friends at work :)

I saw the sump. WHAT A BEAST!!!

school is always first, but if you get suspended or drop out than reefkeeping can be your job, lol..keep it up

Ok. Here's some update, got the chance to visit my LFS yesterday and took a few pictures of the sump+refugium! Could not be happier, everything is very well built! Its made of 1/2" cast acrylic and i also have my reservoir which i did not take any pictures but will take some on sunday since both item will be shipped to my place on that day. Hard part will be fitting the sump under my stand. The only way is to slide it in on the side. Since there is only 3' space, i will need to push the stand+tank on one side....

Here's some pictures:

You can see the reservoir on the bottom right

The problem i am afraid to get is micro bubbles from the skimmer and the return from the refugium... wondering what i should do about it... maybe cover it with something to minimize the risk of microbubbles..

This sump/refugium is built like a tank!
The upper part is the refugium and the bottom part will stay like that, maybe some mangroove in the front part but that will be it.

Wow impressive sump !! It must be one of the nicest I've seen so far on RC !

Can I ask who built it ? I might be looking at getting an Acrylic tank in the future ! :)

Thanks,
Ginzo
