Hi

I have a 6025 and it just started rattling yesterday. Took it out and it turns out the impeller shaft is out. Not sure if its possible for the shaft to pop out or if its actually snapped (doesn't look snapped). The metal disc is also loose now. Is it possible to pop the shaft back in or does it means its broken if its out?

Thanks !

Occasionally you can press a shaft back in, if the hole is still snug it should seat, you will want to carefully tap it in with a tacking hammer or better yet, use a hydraulic press to really get it seated. It depends how old the pump is. In July 2007 we switched from a Chinese made 316ss shaft that tended to snap (this cannot be fixed) to a 316TI shaft that is made in Germany. This newer shaft I have never seen broken, but I have seen them pull out and I have seen the stainless steel disk accumulate calcium and act like an abrasive cutoff saw and cut through the shaft. In January 2008 the base of the pump was beefed up to further hold the shaft and the dimensions and depth the shaft was inserted were modified so they also don't pull out much anymore and the stainless steel washer has been obsolete since November 2007 when the disk was changed to graphite/nylon. If you can't reseat it, send it in and we will work something out, it may be under warranty if you bought it less than 2 years ago.
