6025 nanostream stopped working

I have a Tunze 6025 nanostream and love this pump. But recently it stopped working. The first time, it seemed like it would have trouble starting and after manually spinning the impeller over and over, it eventually started. But now it won't start at all. It seems like it wants to start but just doesn't turn over. I recently did a vinegar dip so I don't think calcium buildup is the problem but I'm not really sure. I supposed I can try cleaning it again.

Any other ideas?

Usually in these cases the metal shaft is broken or loose, it should be firmly fixed in the pump, the drive unit may also be warn out. If the pump was from pre June 2007, it is likely the shaft, if it is from June 2007- Jan 2008 it is likely the drive unit. After Jan 2008, we pretty much had all the issues resolved. Check it out and let me know.

Thanks Roger. I'll have a look tonight when I get home from work and let you know. It looked fixed from what I remember but I'll have to confirm that.

Hi Roger,

Looks like the metal shaft is very secure and not loose. Not sure what the problem could be. I did notice the magnet/impeller doesn't slide in very smoothly. Maybe it is calcium buildup but I'm not really sure because it doesn't look that bad and I just did a vinegar dip a few weeks ago.

Is the drive unit all white except the magnet? Or is it white propeller with grey plastic? If it is all white it may just be worn out, this was an older design that could wear out more easily. It could also be debris in the hole in the center of the drive unit or on the shaft, soaking alone doesn't do much unless the pump is disassembled so vinegar can get to everything.
