i went powerhead shopping yesterday. i had already made up my mind to buy another product from a different company (who will remain nameless in this thread) due to affordability. when i arrived at my lfs, i spoke with the owner about my choice and i was allowed to view the competitor's largest most powerful model in action, and i was disappointed in the distance of the flow. i was then shown the 6025 in action and allowed again to put my hand in front of the pump to feel the flow and test the distance at which flow is still strong. the comparison between the small 6025 and the largest model from brand x made my decision very easy since i was considering their second smallest model and the largest did not perform as well as the nanostream. congratulations on a well made product that performs very well.
alas, this is not simply a(nother) rave review. i do have a question
i would like to use the two pumps i bought yesterday to create a tidal current simulation. i understand they are not useable with a controller but i wonder if they could be used with a standard electronic timer and what negative effects that may have on the pump's motor and/or lifespan. i am thinking of having one pump on at a time and alternating between them every 6-8 hours. what if any problems do you see with that type of use?
thank you for your time,
mike
