6040 and 6020

I was wondering about these pumps. Would 1 work well for a pump near the water line to break the surface for aeration? or does the water flow too horizontally for that application? I want to replace my Koralia 425 GPH with one of these so it looks a little cleaner at the back of my tank.

You can remove the scoop and aim them straight up and orient the pump any way you wish so it can certainly work for that purpose.

What do you mean orient the pump any way you wish? I do not see from the images of it how we can move it around with great flexibility.

Would pointing it straight up without any angle provide enough aeration? I want to get teh 6040 to have it connected to a battery backup for emergencies, so it needs to be suitable for everyday usage and for that.

You can position it sideways or up and down and anything in between and the scoop can be rotated and even removed, the manual proof even explains making a wave with a 6040 and the scoop removed on very small tanks.

Can we see this manual proof? And I completely forgot it will rotate like that

I cannot share an early proof of the manual but the final version will be online in a month or so when the pump is available.

But you can confirm, that if I want to mount it to the back wall of my DT and have a horizontal flow that breaks the surface, I would be able to do that? I want to get on pre-orders when they start appearing from different suppliers. I feel like their may be a shortage because it seems like a great product by a great company

If you are just looking for some surface movement, yes it can do that. I believe on youtube their are several videos from Interzoo showing this.

I have had trouble finding any that give an idea of the flow path from the Interzoo event.

Yes, that is true but it does show that it is possible. The 6020 starts production next week and should be available in just a couple more weeks.

I wish you made it so your non-controllable pumps can be used with the safety connector. I want to just use my aeration powerhead with a constant flow and battery backup and i need to pay a lot more just for a controllable version I never plan to control :-(

Only DC pumps will work with the battery unless an inverter is used and a true sine inverter is so costly it offsets any savings of backing up an AC pump.
