6045 just stopped working

Roger,

I got home today and the 6045 is not working at all. Before It broke sometimes it would run backwards and not correct itself. It wasn't a big deal because I leave it running 24/7.

But now it doesn't work at all. Any ideas?

if the proppell is stoped competly try to take it out and clean it off it may have some build up on it. if that dosent work try to self start the pump and spin it with a peice of airline tubing ect

One of my 6045's quit after feeding one day. All I did was remove the impeller and clean it. Works great now.

Just a thought.

then you need to take out the propeller and clean it make srue theres noting on it

It could be two things. The shaft is broken- it should not come out, I have seen a couple older 6045s where the shaft snapped. A bit is left in the bottom of the pump and the rest is free. It could also be that the drive unit has a lot of grit in it. I had one come back that a little sand was in and it caused this problem.

Well the shaft isn't broken and i did get it running again, but this thing is extremely fussy and i'm not too crazy about it at the moment. If thats just how they are supposed to run i guess i'll just have to deal with the fussiness.

ps: There was no real rhyme or reason to how i got it running again. I cleaned it up real well and it would not start up. I left it unplugged tried plugging it in a day later and it started up. It doesn't seem to meet the Tunze quality standard if you ask me. If i could do it over again i would have gone with a 6060.
