6045 - rusty shaft

I have two 6045, the shaft of one 6045 broke and it was replaced by Roger. I noticed that the end of the broken shaft has rust on it. Yesterday, the other 6045 has stopped spinning. I took it out to wash it thinking there are dirt causing it to stop working. It seems like the propeller was stucked and I've to pulled it out with a bit of force. I noticed the shaft is rusty along the length of the shaft. Is there a way that something can be done to remove the rust?

Peter, send me a PM your pump needs to be replaced, the shaft is not supposed to come out and we have since changed the shaft so this cannot recur.
