6045

I just got one of the new versions of the 6045 and from what I have been reading they actually only pump 950 gph and not 1189 gph. I am inclined to believe the 950 gph as the flow is no wheres were I thought it would be in a 15g tank... I am very disappointed if this is true as these pumps are not cheap and I was expecting 1189gph!

I love my 9002 Skimmer which is why I decided to spend the extra $$ for the 6045 and am now waiting for a 6055 but I am on a long waiting list and will be a couple mos.

Where did you find this info. I also thought the 6045 were advertised at 1189 gph. Not to worry if this is true Roger will make it alright.

I found the info here on RC and the odd thing is the new version of the 6025 pushes about 770 gph from reading instead of 660 I am sure Roger will chime in, I do know though my 6045 does not push 1189 gph as I had to add my rio 400 back in to get the flow I expected, I had almost 900 gph with 4 power heads before buying the newer version 6045..... I still love my 9002 skimer though ..and hopefully Roger can help out here

The 6025 always was pumping a little more than the stated value and the 6045 the opposite, but both are within the margin of error IMO.

They can both be modded very easily to pump out 1,100 gph, and a little more complicated mod will give you 1250 gph. The benefit of a 6045 is it actually has a bigger motor so a little bit of dirt wouldn't slow it down, and it has a built-in stopper to correct the reverse flow at the startup.

Regardless, you will not be able to find a pump anywhere that can pump out 1200 gph and uses only 7W, meaning very little heat added to the tank.

This flow rate issue had been beaten to death before here so I don't think keep hammering on it will do anyone any good.

Well then it should be advertised as 950 gph not 1189 gph the reason I bought it, I was decieved by false advertising

IMO you have a few options:

1) Demand Tunze correct the specs, though I think you need to have definitive proof of flow yourself to compel them to change, I don't know what kind of test can be certified to do so.

2) Return the product in protest.

3) Improve upon the product yourself which isn't difficult to do. I have even modded my 6045 to pump out nearly 1500 gph at 8W. Of course this is probably beyond most users' desire to do, but just trying to make a point that we do have one of the best and most efficient and best looking small stream pumps out there.

I myself rather see Tunze using the energy to improve the Nanostreams, which they have done so surprisingly fast, to fix some of the issues from the earlier batches.

i think i mentioned that the 6025 would give you the same flow as a a 6045 with a few quick mods before you got it

remember when you purchased yours there was not a 6025 for sale anywhere in the USA
you could not have gotten it if you wanted

it would be really simple to get the flow you want out of it.

p.s. i was at salty yesterday and they had a 6025 on the shelf first time i have seen one sitting out without it being sold allready.

Neither 950 or 1190 is correct, the 950gph number did not compensate for the losses due to the pipe, the incline, or the head pressure. 1190 was optimistic and based on early numbers, the real flow is about 1100gph. The 6025 is really pushing about 720gph.

Keep in mind that the only numbers we published were from an Interzoo 2006 flyer. Interzoo is to the pet industry what the Detroit Auto Show is to the car industry, it is a dream show, not everything shown even enters production. Many products change before they are finally released. It is an industry only trade show and the products shown are not yet finished.
