6055 clicking in pulse mode

I just switched 2 of my 6055's to pulse mode. One of the pumps make a very loud clicking sound the other does not. Both pumps are on the same channel of a 7095 controller. Why does one make the clicking sound & the other not?

Thanks

In Oct 2010 a new disk was introduced, my best guess would be one pump has the old disk 6025.740 (still used in the non controllable pumps) and the quiet pump has 6055.740. It may also be the drive unit has worn enough to slip or one pump has some obstruction inside, particularly calcium or sediment on the shaft the drive unit spins on. In all likelihood if you clean it and change the drive unit and disk, the noise issue will be solved.

Thanks, Both pumps were cleaned before I switched to pulse.

How can you tell the old disk 6025.740 from the quiet pump disk 6055.740?

Which Canadian retailers carry the quiet pump disk 6055.740?

Thanks

If you look in the pump with the drive unit removed you should be able to see the difference, you can see and order both disks on tunze.com.

I am not able to compare the 2 pumps as the non-clicking pump is hard to get at, I have to move rock work & corals. So I though it would be easier to purchase a new impeller. Just my luck it too is an older model. It is still easier to purchase a third one than to get the pump non-clicking pump out. . . . how can I tell a new from an old pump. I do not want to waste my money again.

Thanks

Ooops, just re-read the earlier post. The new impeller I got was a 6055.740, BUT it still clicks like crazy. Any idea Why????

At least every 6 months these pump absolutely must be removed for cleaning, I would not place them somewhere where they are that much of a hassle to remove, if they aren't cared for, they won't last.

A new pump will have a box with an underwater scene (just deep ocean, no corals or fish), the old ones have a simple blue print. There are no differences that cannot be retrofitted. You likely just need the 6055.740 disk and a pick tool like our 0220.707 to remove the old one and replace it.
