6055 clicking

everytime the 6055 turns on, i heard a loud clicking noise.
i can certainly tell the difference since i have another at the opposite end and the other is dead silent when it kicks on.

There are 3 possible causes and we would have to narrow it down to which cause it is first.

1) The front propeller housing may be on crooked, please check that it is secure.

2) The propeller may be defective or loose, try swapping prop assemblies between pumps and see if it follows the propeller.

3) The disk may be the older 6025.740, since last October 6055 has included the 6055.740 disk and you can see this at the base of the shaft, it will have a dark blue ring around and under the black plastic disk, you will need some sort of small light to look down into the well at the base of the shaft and see this part.

1. propeller housing is straight

2. i swap the propeller between both pumps, and now the other pump is clicking intermittently, the other is dead silent.

3. i see a grayish disc in the bottom of the tunnel where the propeller goes.

So, we can conclude the cause is the propeller. Are these pump bought new less than 2 years ago?

i have 2 new less than 2yrs old and i also have 1 that i purchased from the BST and i dont know how old it is. the new ones i got doesnt have the blue things.
problem is i dont know which one is which, i have rearrange these pumps so many times i forgot which one is the new one.

is there a way to tell the diffrence?

The pumps have a date stamped on the side, but that doesn't mean the impellers could not have been swapped around at some point. It is possible to tell the propellers apart as they evolved to be more quiet over time, but these differences are so subtle and seeing as it is a $12 part, it is about the same price to order the part as to ship it in to be checked out. The date is stamped on the motor as 4 digits- month and year, it will be on the side of the hexagon body of the motor. No date means a very early pump as dates were not added until late 2007.

Your pumps were made nearly 4 years ago. I would be willing to get you a new drive unit for $10 shipped.

If I follow correctly, you have one pump that clicks and when you move the propeller from the pump that clicks to another pump, the click follows the propeller, so one 6055.700 drive unit should be all you need to replace the one that clicks. Can you PM or email me for payment details? I don't seem to be able to PM or email you.
