6055 Impeller Shaft Wiggles

Hi Roger -

Thanks again for the help and great support of Tunze products. Ive gotten a second hand 6055 that was claimed to be 2 years old with 7 months use. I dont see blue bushings so I'm guessing the impeller shaft doesnt come out and shouldnt be wiggling. After running it for a few hours with no noise and good flow I've now got a no start condition. Also verified on other 6055's the power supply is good.

TIA

Yes, on a 6055 the shaft should never be removed, it should be firmly locked in the pump. The most common causes of not starting will be that the propeller assembly or drive unit is partially cemented to the shaft by calcium or debris or that the disk is missing, part 6055.740 which sits in the pump at the base of the shaft.

Well the pump and impeller are clean and I don't see a disk. The shaft definately wiggles, am I able to send in for refub?

Yes, but I cannot always repair a loose shaft short of replacing the motor block.

Sounds good, I'll get the pump packed up and shipped out. Guessing you only need the pump and not the power supply as well.

I'm a bit confused on the 6055.740 attenuation washer. Is this an optional item that resolves a no start issue? Neither of the two 6055's I have have them.

thanks

If they are much older (pre mid 2010) they would have the 6025.740 disk, 6055.740 is an improvement that reduces the clicking on start up. If a disk is their it should still start easily, if nothing is their, it could cause a start up issue.

Thanks again, packed up and will be shipped out tomorrow. I put a note in there asking to take a look at the cage as well. It doesnt quite close at the the top.

This thread represents what I love about quality products and customer service. I bought this pump used from a seller claiming 2 years age and 7 months use and no issues. Come to find out its 7 years old and I'm quickly offered each scenario with prices for repair. I'm bummed I got a raw deal on the pump but happy that its so professionally supported. Thanks Roger!

Thank you and I am sorry for the misunderstanding, I only throw the option of a complete new pump out there because some people get upset about piece meal solutions and just want everything new, including the magnet holder.
