6055, is a controller needed to adjust flow rate?

I want to buy a 6055, but i don't have enough for a controller yet. Can i run this pump without a controller? Will I be able to turn down the flow without a controler?

Yes and sort of. You can switch the voltage on the power supply so it isn't a smooth speed control but you can jump through 6 speeds from 200-1500gph.
