6055 on 7096 cycling on/off every 10 seconds and clicking

Hi again Roger -

I have another 6055 with a white impeller and no attenuation disk that is cycling on and off every 10 seconds while on a 7096 controller with or without the controller plugged in. Current program is pulse only with 2 pumps connected both set to 85 power 1 and 100% power 2. and pulse set to .30 seconds.

Wondering if the pump should run 100% power and 100% of the time while unplugged from the controller cable?

The shaft isnt wiggling and the cage closes, cable looks fine. White impeller feels solid on the shaft. It clicks on restart so Im guessing at the least I need an attenuation disk.

TIA

Yes, 10 seconds on and off with controller disconnected. I can reconfirm when I get home.

That would be something more than the disk, a bad propeller, bad motor or overheating/failing power supply. The power supply can cycle on and off if the pump is dirty, especially the shaft or the hole in the impeller that spins on the shaft.

Ive confirmed the impeller and shaft are clean. It's not running a disk at all and unknown on age. How would I tell the age?

So I'll swap the pump to a power supply whos pump is running continiously and test.
If still restarting I'll swap the propeller from a pump thats not stopping and test.

If still stopping without the controller connected I'd need to send the pump in for repair?

thanks !

Roger -

On that 6055 I sent in recently, the motor block and propeller were replaced and I didnt get my old white propeller back. Will I be able to test an older style motor block using the newer style blue propellers?

TIA

Yes, all that changed between what you had and what I sent was the color of the blade, I just upgraded that as a courtesy so you had the latest.

On the side of the hexagonal motor is a date code, older pumps were week/ year so something like 4707, since 2008 it is month/year so 0409 for example.

A disk should be present but the 6025.740 is nearly invisible without a flashlight to look inside.

Thanks for the great service and follow up. I unplugged the power supply on the offending unit, left it unplugged for a few hours and swapped it with the other 6055 running in the same tank. Both pumps stayed running continiously and the condition did not follow the power supply. Guess I'll keep an eye on it.

Ok, here are my troubleshooting notes, I think I'm going to pack up the power supply and pump and send it off to you to look at. The power supply's LED is not lit but it still drives the pump. Can you remind me what the return shipping address is please?

for clarity the rebuilt pump I refer to is the one you just replaced the motor block in and has been running great. There are only 2 6055's on a 7097 controller and posting the notes in hopes the mess might be helpful:

10.7 swapped power supply and both ran continiously
10.8 hit feed mode, waited 3 mins, hit feed mode again and pumps restart with offending pump doing 10/10 off/on
removed controller cable and running results in 10/10
left unplugged 8 hours and on restart with no controller cable runs fine

10.9 still running fine, unplugged offending pump to feed 10 mins, plugged back in and runs fine

10.10 still running fine, place in feed mode, connected controller wire and repress feed , runs fine for :10 mins and then starts 10 second cycling when plugged in #2 port on controller
swap cable from port 2 into 1 and 1 into 2 on controller and the offending pump cycles 10/10 regardless of cable

unplugged wires from port 1 and 2 from controller and offending pump stops but rebuilt doesnt, offending pump cycles 10/10 unplugged from controller

rebuilt pump on port 1 and offending on 4 and 4 cycles and 1 doesnt on random flow

unplug from controller and unplug power supply for 4 mins and runs for :15 mins and starts 10/10 cycling but not clicking on restart

unplug power supply and wait 2 hours then restart, runs fine for a day and starts 10/10 cycling

Yes, it sounds like a pump issue, I can't completely rule out the power supply or end connector, but I think we can completely rule out the controller or controller cable.

pump and power supply went out friday. Can I get 2 of the newer style rubberized wetside mounts from you in addition to whatever solves the cycling problem? The ones I have are the hard style causing some vibrations to be audible. thanks!
