6055 power supply

Hi Roger,

The LED on one of my 6055 power supplies has begun to flash. Sometimes it is on solid and sometimes it flickers. What does this indicate?

Thanks

Usually it indicates a pump problem, the pump may be jammed up with lime or algae and drawing more current than the power supply can provide so it is starting to overheat. The main thing to do is disassemble the pump and clean it, paying particular attention that the shaft and the hole in the center of the drive unit are free of calcium build up. Clean everything with 50/50 vinegar and water.

I would use 50/50, long term straight vinegar can cause some damage to plastic parts but it is not something that happens in short term use.

Cleaning the pump seamed to make a difference in the flickering LED. Would this be a good indication of when the pumps need cleaned? In other words if the LED's are solid all is well and when then begin to flicker time to clean.

Thanks

I wouldn't wait until it got to that point, long term this could damage the pump or power supply.
