6055 Resonating through my apartment...

I can’t get any response from tunze Germany so I thought I would try my luck on RC.

My 6055 has a low resonating hum as it revs up, it can be heard in any room in my 3 bedroom apartment and my spouse is getting less understanding of the problem.

This is my second 6055 whit the same problem what is the problem and is it something I can fix? I don’t feel like taking a 2 hour drive to my reef shop only to have the same problem appear again.

You should get an email soon from Mr. Tunze, I had forwarded your email to him and he called me Friday to discuss it. There are several possible causes. If you don't hear from Mr Tunze by next Tuesday please email me at Tunze@sbcglobal.net.

They aren't silent. I can hear mine change speeds upstairs from my basement when the room is quiet. I doubt there is anything wrong with yours.

I really hope you are wrong but it feels like you might be right. Although some have had the same problem whit the classics and got them fixt.
If I can’t get rid of the hum the pump becomes more or less useless to me, I really don’t want to listen to a pump when I am trying to sleep.
GAF factor is very low at this point, and that does not make my life any more simple.

I think with any variable speed pump you are going to have some hum. I can hear it on the full-sized Streams too, even after they are broken in. I hear the Vortechs are much worse.

SBD> I had the same problem to begin with. The humming changed alot when going from 30 to 100%

Now that they have been broken in for about 1 month I cannot hear it anymore. And it is not just because I have gotten used to it. I have to actually look at the multicontroller and listen really carefully to make out when it is changing speed...

I thought that my pumps would stop humming so I waited for 2(probably longer?) months whit the first one and this one has been in use close to 2 months.
Still god to know that they can be quiet there might still be hope. Thank you so much that info.

Det er bare helt okay :)

But I'd say that 2 months should be enough for breaking them in :(

Come to think of it, I had one of the pumps repaired by Tunze. I returned it because it was making more noise than the other - it was rattling. I was told when I got it back, that they had changed the motor.

SBD, it may make some noise but not so much, please send me an email if you do not hear from Mr. Tunze soon. Your original email came to me but it was strong worded and I wanted the owner to see it especially since you are in Europe. The noise could have many sources and we will solve it.

Hmm it may have been slightly harsh, I am sorry if it was taken that hard butt to my defence I had just taken a real nagging from my girlfriend...
I have had some progress after I took the pump apart again the noise level has dropt.
Strange because it is not the first time I have taken the pump apart.
Thank you very much for your patience and time.

I have two 6055 and Tunze controller. They are operating on interval 2 pulsing between 30 to 80% every 3 seconds and switching every 6 hours. I can stand right next to aquarium and I can not hear pumps run. Hopefull Roger and Mr. Tunze will be able to help you out.
