6055 Running at Full Speed and Not Responding to Controller

Roger,

I bought two 6055 pumps (2009 and 2010 vintage) and a 7094 controller from a fellow club member. The 2010 pump responds nicely to the 7094, while the 2009 pump does not and instead runs at full speed. I tried changing the channels, the cables, power supplies, everything. Visually, the pump looks in very good condition with no apparent problems.

The pump simply doesn't respond to the controller. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Spencer

The 7094 was made from 2000-2004 so it is a fairly old controller, it also was largely electromechanical with relays and switches that wore out and failed over time. I am honestly more surprised to see one that still works than to see one that doesn't. It was not solid state like the more modern controllers. It is possible it is the motor or controller connection socket or cable but the only real way to get a valid assessment is to try the pump on a more modern controller with a new cable. If you know anyone you can borrow a controller from that would be the ideal check.

Is it possible to fit the 6055 with the wide flow shield from the 6095 (and change impeller if need be)? It would be nice to convert to wide flow.

You can use the 6095.130, I would not increase the propeller size, the 6055 pump has a lower rated motor and does fewer rotations, this would decrease further with the bigger prop and long term could harm the motor.

Thanks, Roger. I installed the 6095 housings, and, wow, it really does create a wider flow. The pumps are still very powerful. I have them dialed down to oscillate between 30 and 60%, otherwise I get a sandstorm. The sps are loving the new flow, great polyp extension.
