6060 and Anemones...danger?

Hi Roger,

I'm running a tunze 6060 in my 55 and my question is:

is there any danger of an anemone getting "sucked" into the tunze 6060? Also - for the other turbelle stream models since I love this 6060 and will likely get more powerful streams once I upgrade my tank.

For example - should I invest in a deco rock / place some sponge filter around the tunze - would this help prevent accidents or am I being overly cautious?

I do not have an anemone yet - just wondering if I need to put into place some kind of safety plan in the event I do desire to get one.

Thank you in advance for your excellent support and help.

I have seen a few anemone misshaps with the Streams, I think the Stream rock is a big help but it is almost as wide as an 55 gallon tank so it may look really out of place. I prefer to use the regular Turbelle and place filters or extend the intake below the rocks when keeping anemones. I really don't know of anny way to makke the Stream absolutely anemone safe.

Thanks Roger - I'm glad to see you are feeling better!

I didn't anticipate using your advice so quickly - I was given a Condi as an "extra" in my LR order. Luckily for me it has settled in and enjoys the tunze blowing it back and forth. Simply an amazing and superior product. BTW - I have been recommending this product to anyone that asks the question "what kind of power head is good for my xx tanks..."

My compliments to you and your great company!

I just placed an order on the osmolator...next up will be a larger tank and more tunze products (assuming the wife allows...!)

Thanks again!

Thanks! I feel much better today. Just be careful, condis wander alot. They loosely attach to seagrass in the wild. Fortunately I think the majority of anemones that have gotten on to a Stream survived but if he ever moves and you are their it might be best to unplug it and let him settle in.

Hasn't moved for 24 hours (exact spot I placed him at). Fed it twice already and it appears to love the tunze blowing it (btw the tunze is about 2~3 feet on it's left!...). So I'm very happy. If it moves I'll take your advice and watch carefully. Right now I'm watching a cuke that's much closer than the anemone! Thanks again!
