6080.50 Magnet Holder Issues

I have 2 6100 Streams on a 7095, both being supported by the 6080.50.

Recently I noticed the "feet" on one of my magnets where the fitting on the pump slides into the magnet to hold it - is busted. So essentially the pump is held on by one peice of small plastic and moves quite a bit, it is only a matter of time before it breaks.

I havn't dropped it, or anything, it has been in my 120 since day one, not sure if the 6100 is just too powerful for this small magnet, even though the magnet is rated to be compatible with the 6100.

Then on my other 6100 the peice that comes off the pump that slides into the other magnet completely busted in half so it won't go onto the magnet at all and there is no spare replacement part that came with the setup so the Stream just hangs in the tank.

Has anybody else had these issues? They just happened on their own. I have never heard of anything like this happening anywhere else or am I just that lucky?? :P

I have seen this happen a couple times and was never sure if the customer forced the clip on, it should only rest on the bracket, or if the material was thin or brittle from a manufacturing defect.

You could return the pair of magnets for replacement or reverse them so the matching half outside is now inside. It has the same holder.

On the other unit I assume you are talking about part 6080.23? The pivot point is glued on the backing plate with a plastic cement, while rare it is likely that not enough glue was used, I can replace this part for you.

They rested, the pumps had quite a bit of movement while mounted on the magnets right out of the box. The clip is busted along with the "tooth" on the magnet on one so even if it is turned around it is still going to be lose as there is no clip on the pump that'll slide down into the magnet.

Yes it is the 6080.23. I'll have to check tonight when I get home from work if it is both peices that are broke, I can't remember specifically.

Would I have this issue if I went with the larger magnets for over 45w?

No, the only difference is the number of magnets inside, they are physically identical. It sounds like you got a bad one, the plastic was either thin or scorched in production. Let me know what you need, I can send you a couple mounting clips.

Yep it is the mounting clips. I just need one. On the opposite 6100 it was just the magnet deal that holds the mounting clip from the Stream that broke - I just flipped the magnet and everything is fine.

I'll PM you the etails on this.
