6080 vs seio 1500

i currently have a seio 1500 and am looking for a tunze 6080 and am wondering if there is a difference in the flow patterns?
my 1500 is always blowing microbubbles everywhere. does the tunze do this also?
i also have a RK2 with a wavemaker. can i let the tunze run for 2 hours turn it off for 30 min and then turn it back on or is this bad for it and should let it run all the time?

I am running both in various applications and my experience is that the flow dispersion is slightly wider on the Tunze. This is probably a combination of the angle of the propeller vs impeller and the aperture width. Your microbubbles are probably due to the Seio drawing a tiny bit of air down from the surface. Try moving it lower in the tank and see if that helps. Also closing the venturi intake can make a difference. The seios are nice for the price but they fall short IME in long-term reliability, energy efficency and overall effectiveness. If the Tunzes were a bit cheaper, it would be a total non issue between the two IMHO.

No, I dont think so if you are planning on keeping higher flow animals. You might want a second pump however to oppose it and create more chaotic currents and flow patterns. Two 6060s might probably be better in this reguard.

I might suggest a 6060 instead, the 6060 has a 48" by 24" flow pattern, a 6080 has a 60" by 24" flow pattern.
