6095 or 6105

I'm wondering if I can get some direction on a pump choice.
I'm pretty sure all fingers will point to the 6105 but I'm wondering if the 6095 option would work.

The tank is 5'x3'x18"High and I'm thinking of putting a alternating pumps in each back corner pointing towards the front panel (between center and the opposite corner) to create a figure 8 pattern with a controller. Not planning on a wave.

Would the 6095 be strong enough to do this in my tank or would the 6105 be too strong even ramped down and push all my sand into the back corners?

I could see using either and my criteria would be as follows-

1) What do you intend to keep- mostly SPS- 6105 is better, anything else 6095

2) If you have sugar sand, 6095 is better, 6105 would be workable by lowering the pump speed and aiming them up.

3) How thick is the glass, included mounts for 6095 are for up to 3/8", maximum with extension magnet 6025.501 is 3/4". For 6105 included is good to 1/2" and optional magnet set 6205.500 would make 1" possible, 6205.501 extension would be good for 3/4".

4) The flow pattern you describe is better suited to the 6105, the 6095 makes a very wide diffuse pattern and 4ft will be the maximum reach. The 6105 with the narrower of the two included housings can reach 8ft, this will though make fine sand difficult.

Thank You

My glass is 1/2" and you're right I thought I read that about the 6095 but wasn't aware of the optional magnet, good to know.

I am hoping to have a mixed reef so I also think the 6095 would be better with any sps placed closer to the flow source.I have been reading that the 6095 has a 3' push but wide so with you saying 4' that opens up this option more.I'm thinking my figure 8 idea is going to be more in theory...ending up more in a mixed flow pattern but the logic being no dead spots and keeping the nasties in suspension.I can spread all my rock out so there isn't any high points to obstruct flow.

How comparable is the wide flow of the 6105 with the wide pattern nozzle to the 6095?

The 6095 flow flares out much faster, the 6105 even with wide flow housing is more direct, this is due to the stabilizer fins in the front of the opening they straighten out the flow into a jet. They reach the same diameter, but 6095 flares out very quick giving it a shorter reach.
