6100 beep

Hello roger.....

I have a few black and a few brown 6100 streams.

Every now and again I hear a beep but that's all I hear.
Then, other times I hear a beeeeeep (5 sec long)
By the time I put my book down and run into the fish room it quits and I can't find the pump....

The other day I heard it and made it to the pump that was beeping. Its an older unit that I just replaced the impeller (6100.700 with blue prop)
I gave the pump another vinegar bath and its spotless. I pulled the rear bearing and oring during this process as well.

I thought I was done, then later, it did it again.
Could this be a warning that a box pump or puck is going bad?

Any help would be appreciated
thanks
David

In general, one of two things is happening. The drive unit has an issue or the motor has an issue.

As far as the drive unit goes. Every part should have been changed, while they are roughly interchangeable, the main problem is that over the years the parts were tweaked to compromise between noise, calcium buildup and durability, so their were enough small tweaks that a 3000.620 from 2004 might bind on a drive magnet assembly from 2012. A 3000.610 from 2005 might be juts a hair shorter or tighter so the prop can catch. If everything was changed, the usual issue will be that part 3000.620 slipped out a bit, this can happen on the first start with dry parts, and sometimes a part just fits loose. It may also be the impeller magnet has a small crack.

If the pump is going, the alarm will get worse and worse until the pump stops completely, there is not much that can be done here, but it is unlikely, usually a dead pump just dies with little warning.

when i put the new impeller in, i replaced 4 pieces.
front bearing (i think thats what its called) it looks like a ring where the front of the impeller lies within

impeller assy (including blue prop_

rear bearing (the washer thing the bottom of the impeller sits in)
and rear o-ring.

thats as close as i can explain.....

all of these things came with the new impeller, so i put all new pieces in.

the black puck looks good and had no cracks, and doesn't get hot. (compared to the other 3)

the aluminum box just looks like an aluminum box... haha
and the motor block just looks brown haha (not much to look at from the outside)

if this is the case, then your saying to just keep running it till it dies and then go from there? thanks!

oh,
and if it does die..... what would be a good replacement? (comparable?) and will they be available at MACNA?

6105 would be the comparable, we aren't selling at MACNA but we will be selling off our displays and I am showing a couple of 6105's.

I would double check that 3000.620, that collar at the top of the hole is pushed in all the way. It sounds like everything is done right. For reasons that I have never understood, occasionally just rotating part 3000.620 180 degrees will solve such a problem, it can be inserted 2 ways.

ill give it a twist, and see how it goes.

ill be checking out your booth over the 3 days, and maybe ill get lucky and find some things i need!!

thanks!
