6100 beeping

I have 2 Tunze 6100's that have been working fine for about 7 months now. 1 of them just started beeping today, and I can't figure out why. I cleaned out the inside of it, took out the impellar, which looks fine, put it back together and plugged it in and it's still doing it. Any recommendations on how to fix this? I need to get the flow back in my tank. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem.

I returned home to the beep (alarm) after taking the dogs for a short walk. I seemed to remember that it indicated the need for cleaning so I immediately shut down both 6100's and removed the one that was making the noise.

I noticed that the blue box (driver?) that was making the noise was much warmer than the other.

I thoroughly cleaned the pump including a good vinegar soak - which I do a couple times a year.

When I reassembled the pump and hooked it back up and placed it in a bucket of water to test, it would not operate. The driver just got warm.

Thanks!
Paul

Are you sure the upper bearing is not stuck to the magnet- see the cleaning thread at the top of the forum.

If this is not the problem the pumps need to be sent in for repair.

Thanks Roger. I'm going to have to send it back for repair. I realized the problem. I looked at my other 6100 impellar and noticed that on the one that isn't working that there's supposed to be a plastic screw tip on the front of the impellar. It looks like the tip broke off. Should I send just the full impellar, or the whole unit? Thanks!

Send everything except the transformer. It is best to have things tested when their is a doubt.

Hi Roger, I just want to see how you're making out with my 6100. It should have got there last Friday. Thanks!
