6100 has stopped

Hello Roger,

Came home to an alarm on one of my 6100's. Took the pump apart and cleaned the impellar and pump body. However, once powered up, the alarm is still going off constantly.

The impellar appears to move freely in the pump (can spin with finger easily). To double check, I switched the transformer and impellar with my other 6100. Both work fine on the other pump. The first pump still alarms with the swapped out parts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jeremy

Did you take out the bearing and oring behind the impeller and clean it? Can you see down the hole in the impeller?

Yes to both.

Looking at the design and the cleaning instructions that Roger has posted, even if the lower bearing is stuck in the housing, it should not impede the rotation of the impeller. But, I could be wrong

Thanks.

Hi Jeremy,

You should be able to remove the upper bearing for cleaning if it is clogged with calcium deposits this can cause an alarm.

Graeme

Graeme,

Thank you for the suggestion. Per the pictures in Rogers cleaning post, I have removed and cleaned the O-ring, upper bearing (I had been calling it the lower bearing because it sits at the bottom of the housing bore), drive unit, and bush bearing. Once cleaned, I reassembled and still get an alarm. As I have one of the newer unit designs, I am under the impression that there are no more parts to remove/disassemble and clean.

As stated previously, I then switched drive units and transformers with my other 6100. Alarm seems to follow the original pump.

Have I overlooked anything?

Jeremy
