6100 Noise

Hi,
My 6100 is making a fairly loud chattering noise. The pump is working perfectly fine but the noise is especially annoying when my multi controller increases and decreases power and you hear this chatter noise. Sounds like my neighbors push lawn mower across the street (kept looking out the window thinking who the heck is mowing their grass at midnight).

Does this sound like I need a new impeller? I did take the impeller assembly including the bottom piece with the red O ring out and cleaned them.

Any help is appreciated.

If it is one of the older drive units with the brake shoes, my guess would be the brake shoes are worn or missing and it may be time to get a new drive unit. I would get the 6100.70.

If you look at the cleaning thread at the top of the forum you can see the parts broken down, the little black pegs with a serrated end are the brakes. They don't do anything really on a 6100, they are for the 6080 and 6060 which don't have the electronic start up. If you hold the magnet in one hand and twist the prop blades clockwise and counterclockwise you should see them smoothly pull in and push out. If they hang up or are missing completely they are likely sticking out and dragging.
