6100 not pulsing?? Help Roger!

Been Reefin'
Hey I just noticed that my 6100 controller isn't pulsing. The pump is working just not pulsing or changing modes...just uncontrolled. What can be done Roger? I also have a 6080 and the screw in the impeller broke with just the slightest torque. I think it was brittle. Can it be replaced?

Thanks,
Kyle

The screw can be replaced but you must get the old one out, can you get the old one out?

What controller are you using on the 6100? Is the photocell attached?

It's the 7091 single controller and yes a photocell is attached.

I may be able to drill the screw out with a small bit and try to get the old screw out. Not sure...

From my experience the best way to extract the screw is use a small saw or dremel saw blade and cut a groove in the top and then use a small screwdriver to extract the screw.

I would try removing the photocell, in night mode pulsing stops, check that the photocell has not fallen in a dark place and that the plug and socket have not been damaged by water or salt creep.

I'll do that.

I'm not sure that the pulse controls the two powers. I am assuming that the pulse turns the power 1 and power 2 on at different times. There isn't any damage on the plugs, but i will try the photocell.

The pulse knob sets the number of sceonds between the power 1 and 2 knobs. It ranges from 1-5-7 seconds and turned fully clockwise past 7 seconds you turn pulse off.

I have a similar problem. I have two 6100s hooked up to an ACjr and one of them will not pulse. I have narrowed it down to something being wrong with the driver, as I swapped them between the two pumps and the pump started pulsing with the other driver.

Is there any kind of fix for the driver, or is replacing the only way?

The only cause that would be repairable would be a minor short in the cable connection for the controller. I have seen salt crystals short the 5 pin DIN socket cleaning this socket with contact cleaner and compressed air may solve the problem if the socket is otherwise OK and not corroded.

kpk, I was addressing oohmiller who had narrowed it down to the driver box. In your case I think it is something simple with the controller. It is very rare for the driver to be the culprit and if it is the socket is the issue as that is where the signal is sent and recieved from the controller, a short bypasses the controller.

Well Roger I tried everything. Nothing seems to work. I disconnected all connections and cleaned them (wasn't any salt or anything), but nothing. Can anything else be done? Would it be the controller or???

You are sure the pulse knob is not turned all the way clockwise (pulse off)? I would wait and send in your pumps with notes that specify the problem and have your return address. Wait until I am coming back from MACNA, Sept 10th will be my first day back as I am driving. kpk, please include your controller.
