Roger,
The same pump I sent you last summer is failing again. The metal insert that allows the propeller assembly to spin is getting chewed up. the prop is very loose now. Is this something that is still covered under warentee, you replaced the driver last time? If not, is it something that I can replace myself? Can you check to see what you can do for me? The pump serial number is 118 Thanks

Dave,

I am puzzled, the 6100 has no metal inserts, there are no metal parts inside the pump except for the copper motor coil which is not visible or exposed. I would need to see the pump, if the damage was not caused by a foreign object or debris and was due to a defect in materials, I will do my best to get it covered.

Strange, I pulled the prop assembly for cleaning, and the magnet on the prop was covered with metal fillings, and that's when I saw the front insert on the driver all chewed up. I thought it was made of metal due to the fillings, I will check to should see if the ring is magnetic. I can send you a picture tonight.

Ok, you are right, took a better look at the pump and it is plastic. The area that is worn away is where the prop feet grab onto the pump. Did something cause the break feet to stay out? I think that is why it got chewed up? is that plastic area repairable? Still have no idea where the metal filings came from that was all over the prop magnetic.

The magnet can pick up a lot of metal pieces, for example you take it out to clean in the garage or by the sink and it picks up bits of steel wool or metal filings or a staple. I have had this happen before. It sounds like you just need the newer 6100.70 drive unit that doesn't have brake shoes. If the abrasions in the motor are minor I would not worry about them, other then calcium building up a bit faster they won't cause any other harm.
