6101 louder than my 6100

Hi Roger,

I tried sending this to you in a PM but your mailbox is full.

I am just wandering if this is normal. A few months ago i purchased a new 6101. I have it running on Interval 1 w/ the 7095 and a 6100 that i have had for a couple years.

The 6101 is noticably louder. I can't hear the 6100 at all, but when it switches back to the 6101 you can hear the hum from across the room. I let it run for a couple months and it hasnt quieted down. I tried removing the prop and putting it back in case there was air in there. Nothing has stopped the humming.

Is this normal? Some people say the 6101 is more quiet than the 6100 but it has been the opposite for me.

Thanks,

Wes

I cleared my inbox but I will answer this here. It is possible that the 6100.70 drive unit has some sort of machining defect, possibly a burr or minor defect, you might try checking it over for small protrusions and plastic casting marks. Sometimes prying out the bearing bush, part 3000.620 and reinserting it rotated 180 degrees will also help. You could try swapping drive units as well. You need to swap all parts though, including the upper bearing and bearing bush. It is also possible that the pump mounting is the source of the noise, if you used a different mounting or have the pump mounted somewhere where there could be more noise from reverberation, this may be a culprit.
